A New Chapter in Independence
Choosing a home is a big step. Choosing the right support team is even bigger.
At the George Gray Centre (GGC), our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes in Sale, Gippsland are designed for people with disability who want to live more independently, while staying connected to the people and community that matter most.
SIL is shared living with 24/7 support, tailored to your goals, routines, and preferences, so home feels like… home (not a roster).
What is SIL?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) means having support in your home, day and night, to help with daily tasks, build independence, and live the life you choose.
Support may include:
Personal care and daily living routines
Cooking, cleaning, and household tasks
Building life skills and confidence
Community access and social participation
Overnight support for safety and reassurance
SIL is about choice, confidence, and belonging, with the right support around you.
What others are asking
-
SIL is the support you receive in your home (staffing and assistance). SDA is the type of home/building (the physical property) for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Many people have SIL without SDA, and some have both.
-
SIL may be suitable if you:
Need regular or 24-hour support
Want to live with others in a shared home
Are working towards more independence
Have SIL in your NDIS plan, or are exploring adding it
If you’re unsure whether SIL is right for you, our team can help you understand the options and next steps.
-
We’ll always work with you (and your support network) to aim for a good match. Shared living works best when everyone feels safe, respected, and comfortable.
-
Not necessarily. If you’re exploring SIL, we can talk through what the process can involve and how to start gathering the right information.
-
Yes. Home should feel connected, not cut off. Visits can be planned in a way that respects everyone’s space and routines.
-
Overnight support is available for safety, reassurance, and assistance as needed. The exact setup depends on the household and individual support requirements.
What’s next
We’re starting small to make sure we do it well.
Places are limited, and SIL can take 6–12 months to be approved in an NDIS plan, so we’re inviting early Expressions of Interest (EOIs) now.
Submitting an EOI isn’t a commitment — it just helps us understand your needs and contact you with updates.
How to express interest
Complete our short Expression of Interest form below.
